Nutrition and Fitness
Learn about Canada's Food Guide, serving sizes, healthy choices, meal planning, food labels, make a healthy cookbook, cook together, film a cooking show, and learn how to take care of your body through exercise.
For one week the Nutrition and Fitness group wore pedometers to see if they could reach the 10 000 step challenge! We went for a walk to test them out.
The group also food journaled for one week to see where they could make improvements to their diet and wrote down their daily exercise with the goal of exercising for an hour a day.

Joanna Ledoux, a community Dietician, visited our classes to do a virtual grocery store tour and then looked at nutritional information on food labels for each food group. Students had to discuss why some food choices are better than others, while considering serving sizes, sugar content, fat, fiber, etc.
Bomber mentors, Sean (Ruth Betts) and Brodie (McIsaac), visited our classes to talk about fitness with each group. They talked about game day routines, weekly workouts, the importance of stretching (including yoga!), weight training, cardio, as well as their diets.
Students made imovies for their final project.
