Global Connections
In November students wrote letters to soldiers in Afghanistan through the B'nai Brith Operation Thank You program. These personal, hand written letters shared what was going on in our student's lives in Flin Flon, as well as included thank yous and well wishes, all in an attempt to brighten the day of a Canadian soldier fighting in another part of the world.
We signed up for a Holiday Card Exchange program where we were assigned a list of 29 other places in the world to send Christmas cards to. The theme this year was Mittens, Toques, and Scarves and our students made homemade cards to send out. Then we addressed envelopes and mailed out our cards, all of which went to places around the United States.
Students then made a map so that we could track where our cards went and where we would receive cards from. As our Christmas cards arrived in the mail we researched information about the city it came from and then hung the info on our map, looked at the neat stamps, and admired the cards.

The completed map along with the envelopes from the schools that sent us cards.
Our last step was to create a google map to show where we sent/received cards. Check it out here
